On May 26, 2017 — almost exactly one year ago — ISIS gunmen in Egypt opened fire on vehicles carrying Christians to Friday services at a monastery. The vicious attack, which occurred on the first day of Ramadan, injured 23 and killed 29. Elderly believers and children were among the dead.
One of our Christ-centered partners in the Middle East recently spoke to the family of a husband and father murdered in the terror attack. The man's 10-year-old son witnessed the execution. "The terrorist shouted he had to convert to Islam," the boy recalled.
"But my father said no. Then they shot him."
Unbelievable. What an amazing man of faith! What a powerful example to his children! How many of us would make the same decision if we faced the barrel of a gun? He chose death over denying Jesus!
